Who Is Eligible for Hospice Care?

To be eligible for hospice services, patients must agree that they wish to receive palliative (comfort) rather than curative care. The attending physician and the Hospice team physician must also concur that the patient has an estimated life expectancy of six months or less, if the illness runs its normal course. The Hospice staff conducts patient evaluations to help determine if hospice services are appropriate for all referred patients. We accept patients with all end-stage diseases such as:

  • Pulmonary Diseases
  • Metastatic Cancer
  • Cardiac Diseases
  • Renal (kidney) Diseases
  • Liver Diseases
  • Neurological Diseases (Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS or Lou Gehrig’s)
  • AIDS
  • Diabetes
